The Finishing Touch — Premium Motorcycle Mirrors

Most standard Harley stem-mounted mirrors require a 1/2-inch wrench for the nut underneath the hand control assembly, and an Allen key or Phillips screwdriver for angle adjustments

Tighten the mirror stem nut to 8–12 ft-lb (10.8–16.3 Nm), making sure to retain the original internal tooth lock washer

Yes. Many riders swap and invert the left and right mirrors (moving the right mirror to the left side upside down, and vice versa) to get a lower profile. Always check for gas tank or hand control clearance at full handlebar lock before riding

You only need an adapter if your new mirrors use a different thread diameter, pitch, or mounting style than your specific Harley model (such as converting between stock perch mounts and bar-ends or custom thread sizes)

Convex glass curves outward to provide a wider field of view and reduce blind spots, though it makes objects look slightly farther away. Flat glass shows a true-to-size reflection with accurate distance judgment, but has a narrower view

Adjust them while sitting in your normal riding position on a stationary bike so that only a small portion of your shoulder or elbow is visible, leaving the vast majority of the mirror focused on the lane and traffic behind you
